Gold Ocher

Gold Ocher

An upgraded version of the standard Tor VM discs that are more balanced in terms of performance – the Gold Ocher Series Discs – has arrived. This series includes the following four types of discs:

  • Coarse Discs for Gross Reduction
  • Polishing Discs for Contouring
  • Polishing Discs for Polishing
  • Polishing Discs for Finishing

They all come in a pack of 50 pieces and with two options for diameters: 9.5 (0.37”) or 12.7 (1/2”). Each is a perfect combination of speed and quality filling processing that yields in a minimum risk of enamel damage. Additionally, the abrasiveness and rigidity of the discs ensures consistent and uniform removal of material. This, in turn, provides restoration results of the highest quality.

General steps for operating polishing discs are provided below:

  • Removal of excess composite and contouring of the restoration is necessary before polishing.
  • Pick desired disc from series.
  • Connect a disc for gross reduction to a preliminary sterilized mandrel by gently pushing until wobbling of disc on mandrel seizes.
  • Start polishing (making sure the speed does not exceed 10,000 rpm).
  • Wash away residuals of polishing once it is done.
  • Disassemble disc from mandrel by pushing it away at the connector.
  • Repeat steps 3-4 with a contouring disc, taking into account the changed abrasiveness of the disc.

Following these procedures should guarantee a smooth and effective restoration. However, other things to consider while using the discs in this series are:

  • Not using discs and mandrels on handpieces with intended speeds that exceed 30,000 rpm as that could damage them as well as lead to injury.
  • Mandrel should aways be operated with a disc, never by itself.
  • In order to upkeep the quality of restorations, all 4 disc types should be used successively.
  • Never use a disc with visible deformities such as delaminated abrasive coating or a damaged polymer part as it can cause tissue damage.
  • Cooling air supply must be controlled during polishing in order to avoid dentin overheating.
  • The discs are meant for single use only, therefore it is important to make sure they are not being reused as that can lead to tissue damage as well as an infection.
  • Discs and mandrels must be sterilized using a standard method prior to operation if the packaging has been disrupted in any way.

As shown, the Gold Ocher Series Discs are very convenient and easy to use – especially now that you are equipped with special tips regarding their operation. Make sure to give this series a try to make your restoration that much better.
